Even Hell Needs Hero’s

is one of several quotable’s from the soon to be wide release movie “The Hurt Locker”. This summer is surely my summer with several movies causing a resurgence in movies staying with me after leaving the theater. “World’s Greatest Dad”, “The Hangover”, “UP” to name a few.

So now I point my eyes to “The Hurt Locker”, a modern day Iraq war film chronicling the tour of Iraq taken by U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit. The bomb squad takes a hit early on losing their leader. Staff Sergeant William James (Jeremy Renner) takes over and plays hot shot. So the team is torn between doing their job and the thought that they could be being lead by a nut job with all their lives on the line. At least that’s what rotten tomatoes tells me.

I hope the theater puts another good one on me before the summer is out. It looks like “The Hurt Locker” is up to the challenge.

Artscape Thoughts and Robin Thicke

So we were at Artscape, and we came we saw, we conquered. Artscape was rather fun this year. A lot more then i expected if you look at my previous post. But a couple things were exceptional. Those were the shows at the Lyric and The Charles Theater. I may not have known it in years prior to this but dance shows and movies screenings were taking place in the Lyric and Charles respectively and to me it was definitely a nice little treat considering I thought the festival could be… well… ‘gasp’, a dud. But it wasn’t. I had far more fun this time will working the festival then i did when i was just aimlessly touring the festival.

With all that said, we still all managed to be Robin Thick groupies, with about 9 Artison shirts in the crowd. Check out the clip of us getting him when he comes to the stage. Paparazzi my friend… paparazzi.

Artscape 2009 is Missing Something

So Artscape 2009 is upon us, my personal favorite festival-that-takes-place-annually-and-is-free. I’ve been looking forward to it for quite some time now. Almost half a month’s plans, as well as many a last minute one were poured into making sure Artison would not only show up at Artscape and have a good time, but get something accomplished too. While it’s already a certain that will go out there with t-shirts, fliers, stickers, cameras, and the trusty pen and pad, i feel something will be missing from this years Artscape experience.

The thing that is missing is a real headliner. Last year there was Dru Hill, Mario, Keyshia Cole, the Clipse, and DJ K-Swift among others. This year, we seem to be lacking any pop culture heavy hitters. Now, while I’m not saying that experiencing musical artist I might not have heard of otherwise isn’t fun; I am saying that i kinda wanted to have another big line up. It speaks for the scale of the festival to have the names of last year in attendance. So why the skimp this year? I fear that the only person I can really look forward to will be Robin Thicke, and I haven’t been feeling him post “evolution”.
But I guess I will just experience Artscape as I always do before I pass judgement. After all, I can’t complain if it’s free.

Transformers is Knocking Harry’s Shine

Thanks to the boisterous, earth shaking and often times brain melting movie that was transformers I think many people are starting to forget that this summer has several other blockbusters coming. In particular Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Check out the review of Harry potter above, and the trailer below

Kinda Boring: Here is what’s new

So, I’m not really a pop culture aficionado, matter-o-factly I can’t really say when the last time I watched a television program. No wonder I seem rather content behind the bright glow radiating from this glossy screen that transcribing my thoughts. So instead, I refer you to another SA Staff blog for a celeb information exchange, because over hear most of these post are going to be about the website.

This time I have something great for all you would be writers. If somehow you didn’t know how to contact us… now you have no excuse. Click contact us on the bottom of any page and ‘poof’ all the information you need. On top of that there are also all the links to follow us elsewhere right there. So for those Studio d’Art magazine faithful, however small that population might be at present, I’ve got you covered.

Everything else I’m working on tonight will be pretty much under the hood, just Meta tags and analytics scripts. Whelp, I’m pretty sure all 3 people started reading this post just stopped right there, but I promise my future post will be a little more fun.

Well… just a little…

24 hours and 33 minutes

At the Keys for Studio d'Art 24/7/364

At the Keys for Studio d'Art 24/7/364

Ok, let me kick off the blog something that is sure to bore… I’m tired. On top of that my body is shaking a little bit and it’s not because I have the chills. It’s because I have now been up for 24 hours and 37 minutes straight. Yeah I know the title might say 24 hours and 33 minutes but apparently that was now 5 minutes ago (must be effecting my typing too, I was never this slow). Needless to say is the only thing keeping me up is improvements I am making to the website. One of these changes is this blog, because if you are looking at it, it means another one of the countless new features has now been added to  the Studio d’Art Magazine website. I didn’t want it to be hosted on some other site, so I went through loads of bogus, manual, repeat-installations-that-aggrevate-me-because-dreamweavers-built-in-ftp-could-never-load-all-the-files-at-once. But it should be worth it, the goal is to allow our readers to get a direct feel for our writers, understanding their personalities. So that way, they can have a favorite writer and a favorite “writer”. It’s like having the news and then reality TV. You like our articles for their content, and you like us because, well, my staff and I are all pretty crazy, and that makes us perfect to be your entertainment. Now it’s time to get some eye-drops and go to my daytime job.
