Whitney is back!

Whitney Houston has dropped her new single entitled “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength.” The song is written by the legendary Diane Warren and is the lead single for her album which is due September 1st 2009.

Whitney relies on her God given vocals this go around rather than  slick production or the use of autotune. It’s a return to basics for the diva who’s had a troubled last few years both personally and musically. I am so glad she’s back and in my opinion she knocked it out the park.

But I believe you should  judge for yourself though. Listen to the new single:  I Didn’t Know My Own Strength and comment!

Death has been busy

So in a matter of two weeks we have tragically lost Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, and infomercial king Billy Mays.

Because of this, there are 3 things we all need to remember:

1) Release and shake loose all drama, stress, unforgiveness and negativity. It’s just not worth it.

2)Never put off what you can do today for tommorow because tommorow is NOT promised.

3)Never miss an opportunity to tell the people in your life that you love them, because they may not be there to hear it later.

My prayers go out to the families of Ed, Farrah, Michael and Billy.

Mariah Films Video for “Obsessed”

So Mimi filmed the video for “Obsessed” on Monday and apparently she dresses up like Eminem!

Mariah has a scene in the video impersonating the famous rapper sporting a hoody, a du rag, and fake facial hair. It’s soooo funny! I can NOT wait untill this video premieres.
This is sure to add fuel to the fire to this war of words between Mariah, husband Nick Cannon and Eminem.

Return to Corporate America

I’m in love with Art. I’m in love with writing. I’m in love with music. I’m in love with anything artistically driven and focused. My soul just does a dance when I’m involved in any of those things.  I’m about to return to the world of corporate America and I’m not sure how my free flowing artistic personality is going to fit in with that.
I have not been in an office filling out a timecard since December of ‘08 and I’m kind of weary of going back. I was working from home for a little while, but that job has ended and all of my bills are screaming sweet nothings in my ear. So to support myself and my family it looks like working for the “man” will have to suffice, for now.
Working in an office is uniform and bound by rules and regulations. That may be fine for some people, but for me it makes me feel like I’m in jail sometimes. Traditional office work seems to me  just like a form of legal slavery. I mean you are told when to come in, when you can rest, what you can do while you are there, and when you can go home. It always seems like you are doing way more work than what you are getting paid for. I know a few people who do manual labor and they groan when I talk about how hard corporate work can be. They think that because their job is more physically challenging that my profession is a cake walk. That is so not true.I know all of my admins, call center workers, and secretaries can vouch for me. Office work is MENTALLY draining and often by the time I punch out and leave I have a headache.
The other hard thing about it is, I’m just working at this place for a paycheck. I’m not passionate about it and I don’t dream about it when I’m sleeping, it’s just going to pay the bills. I must do what I need to do to survive though, and that’s what I keep telling myself. I really want to finish college but the funds are not there. I’d much rather be soaking in some academic nourishment than soaking in a customer complaint. I’d much rather be doing a character developement chart on one of my characters in the book I’m writing than reading a chart on last year’s earnings. I’d much rather be looking up singles to review for the magazine than looking up past due accounts for review.
However, I have to do what I need to do to survive. If that’s putting on my tie and blazer for the office, then that’s what I’ll do. Honestly I need to recognize this for the blessing that it is. Lady Recession has been ruthless chick and so MANY people are unemployed. I could be one of those people, but by the grace of God he saw it fit for me to be working. I thank him for this blessing that he has bestowed upon me. Thank you Lord! The best way to show him that I’m thankful is to go in to this office on Monday and do my job to the best of my ability. Mary Mary sang “It’s the God in Me.” That’s exactly what I need to show when I go in there. Doing everything I do to the best of my ability, and not being negative. THAT’S the God In Me. Even though this job is not what I want to do with rest of my life, everything can be used to my advantage. I’m feeling better already.

R.I.P. VIBE Magazine

Looks Like Lady Recession Strikes Again!

Due to low sales VIBE Magazine has folded.

This is even after slashing budgets and moving employees to a 4 day work week to save funds.

VIBE made its debut in 1992 and began to make it’s name as one of the premier magazines for Hip Hop culture.

This Legendary Magazine will be missed!

Crafting Good Fiction is Hard Work!

   I am currently writing a book that I eventually want to get published. The book focuses on 10 different people in the same social circle in New York City. The plot follows the trials and tribulations of growing up and each of the characters coming to terms with their own individual lives. The book will have about 14 chapters and I am currently on chapter 5. I love writing and I think the plots are coming along quite nicely. I recently allowed 4 very close friends and associates to give me feedback on the first chapter. 1 of them has responded back so far and it was a good word. I may even post snippets of my work on here once I get the whole thing copy written. I’m so excited even though crafting good fiction is hard work. The worst part is the research..ugh! I don’t live in New York so I have to research the different streets and subway stations. Research is so boring, but it is necessary to make my story sound authentic. I’ve claimed that I’m going to be a published author my dears and it will happen. That’s one of my positive affirmations. I firmly believe words have power and if you just speak it, the universe will move in your favor.
I will def keep you all posted on the progress of my writing and hope to share some of it with you.

Celebrity Twitter Accounts Hacked!

I am a huge fan of Twitter(as you all can tell) and I could’nt believe it when I found out that three celebrity accounts had been broken into over the weekend!
Britney Spears, Diddy and Ellen DeGeneres had each of their Twitter pages hacked into. The hacker posted false “tweets”(a tweet is an update) for each celebrity, but the most shocking one was on Spears’ page.
“Britney passed away today. It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come.” That was the tweet the imposter posted on her page. Her management removed the post so quickly that there was no time for anyone to wonder what was going on. Reps from Twitter urge members to try to use stronger passwords, because weak one’s make it so easy for hackers to gain access and to wreak havoc.

It is not clear what was posted on Diddy’s and Ellen’s accounts because the false tweets were removed so quickly.

All my tweeples out there…make sure you have stronger passwords. If they’ll hack a celebrity account, they fo sho will get in yo business : )

A Moment of Silence for The King of Pop

So, as we all know the King of Pop Michael Jackson passed away last Thursday from Cardiac Arrest. This is such a shock, not only for the music community but for the world as well. Jackson was a huge icon to many and he will never be replaced. It’s such a shame that he gets all this acclaim now that he’s dead. Being that in the last few years, Jackson’s life was a tabloid playground with so much negativity and sensationalism surrounding him. With his mention being more of a joke then one of a legend. Something sad always leads people to show how they feel about someone. With that being written, as of last Friday 5 of his songs were in the top 40, and The albums “The #1’s” and “Thriller” have both made it back to high places on the albums charts. I guess it really is true what they say: Your worth more in death then you ever were in life. The Jackson family and his three children are going to be going through it. Being a child of a deceased parent, I know what they are going through. My prayers go out to them ten fold. This is such a tragedy. He will be missed.

The Return

Hey guys! I’m back! It’s been a long time since I’ve posted a blog and I’m going to try my best not to let that happen again. There’s been so much drama in my personal life, with the magazine, and in my spirtual life but God is going to bring me through in the name of Jesus!
I’m so excited to be writing again, you all just have no idea. My thoughts and my words have been begging me to be let out and I have to obey. So much has happened in my life and in the world of pop culture since my last post. But I will fill you in trust and believe my dears. I appreciate the comments, keep em comming.
