Films

We made it onto Kickstarter, so if you haven’t already check us out there. So in order to keep everyone posted about the film developments we will post updates to Artison Films. We might throw in some other behind the scenes content of our other projects for good measure. Here’s the project details:

What We Want To Do:
The goals are twofold, although only one will be accomplished directly through funding. The first goal is to be able to finally create the film that we have been working on for so long. The second would be to draw more people to our website, Artisonmagazine.com , because of the film and the buzz surrounding it. Our website is all about art and the artist that create it; so this would allow us to bring more attention to the smaller/independent artist we showcase on Artison’s website.

Dreams of an insomniac is a single film that will be released in two separate ways.

Dreams of an Insomniac is a compilation of 6 short stories that overlap through the thoughts, actions, and eyes of the main character. The first script, of the six, City of Lost Dreams was written over a year two years ago. .

It is that script, City of Lost Dreams which will be released separately from the rest. Since City of Lost Dreams story is so strong it demands to be heard in its own right. It is slated to be between 15 and 20 minutes by itself and deals with a woman who is the victim of Murphy’s Law.

The other 5 will be released with the first movie and edited together to showcase the entire Dreams of an Insomniac story. The scripts where written in such a way that they could be viewed separately, almost like the Animatrix, except when you watch them together there is a story that joins them all seamlessly.

The story of Dreams of an Insomniac is as follows: essentially Dante rediscovers things about his past that haunt him and they are beginning to take a toll on his present and future. His dreams and his waking hours cause him such restlessness that he can’t sleep. As a result he dreams wide awake and some of his nightmares have merged into his day to day life. He must decode it all in order to move forward or forever be trapped in his dreams.
It’s because of these overreaching story arches that will make Dreams of an Insomniac unique, that in addition to it being a mix between psychological drama and thriller.

How We Will Do It:
Everything is now falling into place; we just need your funding to assist. We have already scouted for locations and have put the final touches on most of the scripts. We will continue to polish the scripts and prepare our shot list and storyboards (for the scripts we haven’t already) as we get closer to our first shoot. We will have our auditions for the rest of the parts in before the end of September and then after that it’s a boat load of filming. The filming will take place in 6 different date ranges at 3 days per session. This will allow us to film while being mindful of our independent actors need to return to work. After that we will edit and master our audio while we get our film festival applications ready. After that we will sit back and hope everyone enjoys our hard work on the screen.

The short, City of Lost Dreams is guaranteed, with your help, to be released before next summer. The entire film will be released by the end of next year.

What The Money Is For:
• Song Licenses, we have about two planned – $500 each
• Street Closures for two scenes – at least $245 per shoot
• Right of way permits – min $55 each
• Location cost – $ less than $1000
• Boom mic – $150
• Lighting setup – $650
• Film Festival Fees – varies but usually around $50
• Canon XL H1 -$4500

As you can see our expenses total to far more then what we are asking for. So if we meet our goal, please continue to donate, it will help us get out of our ramen based diet after the film is complete.
